Restoring Clean Water Access
In Rural India
As part of our commitment to bettering the planet, Humanscale engages in handprinting actions all around the world. These actions don't just account for the impact of our carbon footprint, but create lasting, positive change for both people and the environment.
Recently, we partnered with the BridgIT Water Foundation to establish and refurbish 20 wells across villages in rural India. Historically, these communities have been deprived of safe drinking water, with women and girls forced to trek long distances in harsh conditions to collect from often-polluted sources.
Thanks to our partnership, clean water is now directly accessible to over 17,000 people across these communities. Girls are able to attend school instead of spending their days collecting, women are often able to earn a second income, and health and hygiene are improved for all. Without the need to boil water, trees are saved and air quality is also better.
Most critically, this project establishes Water Use Committees responsible for the wells' ongoing upkeep, which keeps them working effectively. It's a project we're proud to have a hand in, and it's just one way we're putting our values into action.
