NEW YORK, May 27, 2009 — Humanscale will unveil its latest innovation in laptop computer holders at NeoCon 2009: the L6 Notebook Manager. The newest in Humanscale’s family of ergonomically designed laptop solutions, the L6 provides features that simplify the ergonomic use of laptop computers.

Many laptop holders allow—and even promote—use of the laptop keyboard while the unit is in an elevated or propped-up position. Working in such a way greatly increases the risk of carpal tunnel syndrome and other repetitive strain injuries because it puts users’ wrists into bent or extended postures. By positioning the notebook computer’s display at eye level and requiring the use of an external keyboard and mouse, the L6 allows the user to sit back in their chair at an optimum distance from the screen and work as though on a desktop computer. Encouraging such healthy posture greatly reduces the risk of musculoskeletal disorders such as neck pain and upper and lower back pain, as well as eyestrain caused by improper viewing distance.

At the heart of the L6 is its unique one-way clutch-bearing hinge, which allows for intuitive adjustment of the height of the laptop display—without buttons or release mechanisms—up to 7.3 inches. It allows users to simply move the laptop display up or down to the desired height and let go.

Other key L6 features include a built-in USB hub, cable management system, 360-degree swivel capability, and heat ventilation. Additional security features allow the L6 to be anchored to a work surface or the notebook computer.

The L6 can be used to equal effect in full-time workstations, home offices, hospitality applications, “hot-desking” situations (work spaces shared by mobile employees), and any other work surface on which a notebook computer is regularly used.

Like all Humanscale products, the L6 is highly sustainable with materials that are 30% recycled and 90% recyclable.

Available to ship at the beginning of third quarter 2009, the L6 comes in white with silver accents or black with silver accents.
