NEW YORK, January 9, 2009 — Humanscale’s Diffrient Work Light II and V3 Wall Station have won prestigious GOOD DESIGN awards from the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design. The oldest competition of its kind, GOOD DESIGN has evaluated entries based on innovation, form, materials and construction, concept, function, utility and aesthetic appeal since 1950.
An award winner in GOOD DESIGN’s Lighting category, the Diffrient Work Light II is a versatile task light designed specifically for the latest environmentally conscious compact fluorescent bulbs, which are more energy-efficient than LEDs. The Diffrient Work Light II maximizes the efficiency of CFL technology to provide cool, long-lasting illumination while also offering sleek good looks, the longest reach on the market, unmatched ease of positioning and a wide variety of bulb options. Orders are currently being accepted for the light, which is scheduled to begin shipping in April.
Earning an award in GOOD DESIGN’s Furniture category, the V3 Wall Station is a wall-mounted, track-based technology product for healthcare environments, designed to support a CPU, monitor, keyboard and mouse. Teaming ergonomic comfort and safety with maximum space savings for easy computer access, the V3’s perfectly counterbalanced spring mechanism provides adjustments with less than a pound of force. And unlike traditional wall-mounted arms, which only allow repositioning from a fixed point, the V3’s smooth vertical track enables an unprecedented 51-inch total adjustment range to accommodate 99% of users in both sitting and standing positions. The V3 will be available in the second quarter of 2009.
The Chicago Athenaeum received GOOD DESIGN entries from 48 countries. The Diffrient Work Light II, V3 Wall Station, and other award-winners will be featured in the GOOD DESIGN show this June in Chicago.
