Liberty to be Manufactured Regionally for Asia Pacific Customers

NEW YORK, December 19, 2008 — To support the growing international demand for its high-performance task seating, Humanscale has announced that Liberty chairs sold to customers in the Asia Pacific region will now be assembled in China.

In January 2009, Humanscale will begin production of the award-winning Liberty chair in an ISO 9001-certified facility in Shanghai—a move that will cut delivery lead times in the southeast Asian market from 16 weeks to four weeks or less.

Currently, Liberty chairs are shipped to southeast Asia from Humanscale’s manufacturing facilities in the United States and Ireland. By adding production capabilities within the region, Humanscale will be able to provide far shorter lead times for its customers as well as greater environmental responsibility by reducing delivery distances and ensuring orders are delivered in padded, reusable bags instead of single-use boxes.

This new initiative brings the number of continents where Liberty is assembled to four, including North America, Europe, Australia, and now Asia. Humanscale plans to add South America to the list in 2009, as well as further expand production in Asia by adding a facility in India.
