Humanscale to Display Ergonomic Innovations at ErgoExpo 2012
Revolutionary Float™ Height-Adjustable Table and Striking Element Disc™ Task Light to Appear
LAS VEGAS, December 5, 2012 — Worldwide ergonomics leader Humanscale will showcase some of its latest ergonomic offerings, such as the Float height-adjustable table and the Element Disc task light, at ErgoExpo 2012, December 5 – 7, 2012.
With recent research suggesting that sitting all day is deleterious to one’s health, height-adjustable work surfaces such as Float are more essential than ever, as they encourage a combination of sitting and standing. The simple to use Float meets the demands of healthier work environments with an unprecedented combination of easy adjustability for a vast range of heights (20 inches of height adjustability) and weights (up to 160 pounds of desktop weight, including the tabletop), along with streamlined good looks. With a unique counterbalance mechanism, Float enables simple, one-hand weight adjustment, and constant-force height adjustment for ergonomic sit-stand usage—all without the use of an obstructive crossbeam or a cumbersome crank. Float is also built with measures to prevent the possibility of injury―its innovative safety feature only allows adjustment when the desktop and contents are properly balanced. Additionally, Float accommodates a range of tabletop widths from 48 inches to 72 inches, and can be used with any manufacturer’s table tops to ensure aesthetic consistency with any installed or specified systems furniture. Made for a long life, Float is composed predominantly of recyclable steel and is designed with minimal parts and manufacturing processes. Unlike electric-powered height-adjustable tables, Float is able to balance the table’s load without using energy, which makes it exceptionally sustainable.
In addition to healthy, sit-stand working, Humanscale has embraced dual-source lighting—a solution that has been gaining increasingly more attention—and offers an array of products to address the need for adjustable LED task lighting. After first presenting Thin Film LED Technology—which creates an ultra-wide footprint of warm, glare-free light that casts only one shadow on the work surface—in its sleek Horizon task light, Humanscale again manifested it in the easily adjustable Element Disc. Providing complete user control, Element Disc features intuitive, smart dimming functionality, which affords the user seven levels of brightness and uses memory to save the last preferred light setting selected by the user. For exceptional sustainability and ease of use, Element Disc is equipped with a passive infrared (PIR) occupancy sensor, which automatically turns the light off or on when the user leaves or enters the area. Even when not in use, Element Disc is an object of beauty, folding into a nesting position with its lamp head gracefully echoing the shape of its base.
