Humanscale's ZŌN Personal Air Purifier to be on Display at 2011 ErgoExpo
Humanscale Introduces World’s Most Effective Air Purifying Technology
las vegas, November 28, 2011 — Humanscale takes on the indoor air crisis with one of its latest innovations: a high-performance air purifier that features the most effective air purifying technology in the world. The company’s ZŌN personal air purifier—to be on display at 2011 ErgoExpo—utilizes exciting new technology that is poised to set a new bar for air purification.
The Environmental Protection Agency has identified indoor air quality as one of the top five most urgent environmental risks to public health, and data shows a clear link between health and the air people breathe. The American Lung Association says asthma and breathing problems account for approximately 24.5 million missed work days each year and that half of the U.S. population is breathing unhealthy amounts of air pollution.
Current air purifiers fail to address this air crisis adequately. Designed to clean entire rooms by re-circulating clean air, most air purifiers are ineffective in the large spaces where the volume of air is too large to clean effectively with portable units. Adding HEPA-quality filtration to HVAC units is extremely costly and inefficient, and HEPA-based products are noisy and require frequent and expensive filter replacement. In addition, traditional electrostatic precipitator devices are inefficient and produce excessive ozone, a toxic gas that can harm the lungs.
ZŌN employs patented technology to provide clean air to users in an entirely new way. It directs clean air to exactly where it’s needed: where the user breathes. Since research indicates that most people spend their time indoors in a single area, creating a targeted ‘Clean Air Zone’ around each user is by far the most effective and efficient way to deliver clean air.
Removing more than 99% of airborne toxins and contaminants, ZŌN utilizes a tightly coiled paper filter that has more surface area for collecting dust and particles than any other air purification method. And best of all, when the paper filter becomes saturated, it can be easily vacuumed clean and re-used or recycled with other paper products.
Committed to sustainability, ZŌN consumes just 23 watts of power while producing a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 115—making it 2.5 times more efficient than Energy Star requirements. Plus, ZŌN’s breeze-free, ozone-free and virtually silent operation allows it to be placed discretely near the users—such as on desks or bedside tables—to ensure that they are breathing the cleanest possible air.
ZŌN is available in three sleek finishes: Black, White and Metallic Red.
