NEW YORK, May 21, 2009 — Humanscale announces the introduction of its next-generation keyboard mechanism: the ultra-sleek and ultra-functional 6G. Set to debut at NeoCon 2009, the 6G features an advanced design that sets a new standard for keyboard mechanisms. The 6G’s thin profile is half the thickness, utilizes 30% less steel, and weighs two pounds less than similar mechanisms. But thanks to superior design, it offers unmatched strength and stability while providing maximum knee clearance and the simplest user experience possible. It goes beyond simple utility, though—the 6G is the first keyboard mechanism available in a contemporary white finish in addition to standard black. Paired with a white keyboard platform, it creates a clean, stylish aesthetic that perfectly complements any modern work space.

Allowing maximum dynamic adjustability within a safe operating range, the 6G is the ideal keyboard mechanism for both single- and multiple-user workstations. The 0o to – 15o dial-a-tilt feature prevents the keyboard from going into a high-risk positive tilt while allowing each user to note the angle at which they key most comfortably. The 6G features seven inches of easy height adjustment. It instantly repositions with just a simple hand movement, free from the constraints of knobs, locks, or levers.

The centerpiece of the ultimate keyboard support solution, the 6G literally brings work to the user. By increasing comfort while keyboarding, it helps reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome, neck pain, and upper and lower back pain. It frees up valuable space on the desktop that would otherwise be occupied by the keyboard, and the whole system can be easily stowed under the desk when not in use. For added protection, the 6G’s tilt mechanism is raised to protect the keyboard’s function keys from hitting the underside of the desk when the keyboard is stowed away—a feature available on few other keyboard supports.
